Internships

Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) is a non-profit arts organization located in Saratoga Springs, New York. SPAC is the summer home of New York City Ballet and The Philadelphia Orchestra, and also presents the Freihofer's Jazz Festival, the Saratoga Chamber Music Festival, Opera Saratoga, and hosts rock and pop concerts by Live Nation.

SPAC offers professional internship opportunities to both undergraduate students and recent graduates. Interns work directly for the Marketing Department, whose primary goal is to attract a larger audience to SPAC's classical performances. SPAC's internship program includes career-oriented preparation such as resume building, mentorship, and practice interviews. As a result, many of our past interns have moved on to prestigious careers and companies, including:

  • Random House Children's Division
  • Ralph Lauren
  • Emma Willard School
  • Davenport Theatrical Enterprises
  • LEGO Systems, Inc.
  • MTV Networks
  • NYS Hospitality and Tourism Bureau
  • PI & C
  • Vistaprint
  • The Boston Symphony Orchestra
  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art

WHO WE LOOK FOR
SPAC is looking for hard working, highly motivated individuals interested in business, journalism, and arts industries. We seek strong interpersonal skills, creative ideas, and can-do attitudes. It is crucial that interns are able to write clearly and concisely, multi-task, pay attention to detail and follow-through.

Marketing Interns will become integral members of our staff, directly involved in the following: communicating with the general public face-to-face, over the phone, and via e-mail; writing letters and press releases; and cultivating and maintain partnerships with local businesses, corporate sponsors, and individual donors.

SPAC is also looking for a Graphic Design Intern who will be directly involved in designing and producing advertising materials and promotional pieces, including SPAC's season program, brochures, posters, display boards, web banners, and other materials. Applicants must have excellent graphic design skills, strong writing skills, and proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite of products (including InDesign).

"I love and appreciate the work that SPAC does in bringing the arts to the Saratoga community (and beyond), but this internship serves as much more than an introduction to arts administration. The work you do can be applied to many different fields, and your responsibilities will correlate with your strengths and motivation. Best of all, the mentors you will find here are personally invested in your future, viewing your ambitions as just as much their focus as yours."
-Lauren Donovan, SPAC Intern 2010, Associate Publicist at Random House
