the Peggy Lee Songbook
Performed by Wesla Whitfield
AUG 24 & AUG 26
at The Spa Little Theater
SPAC is proud to present a wonderful new show for Cabaret: Live from the Algonquin at SPAC, ‘“Fever” the Peggy Lee Songbook.”’
In the Golden age of Big Bands she was a vocalist of renown with Benny Goodman and went on to become a prolific recording artist, a successful songwriter and an Oscar nominated actress. A waver of moods and colors, her impeccable rhythmic subtlety and smoldering sexuality lent itself to such hits as “Fever”, “It’s A Good Day”, “Manana”, “Ok, You Win”, and “Hey Big Spender.” Lee’s exquisitely crafted words and soulful interpretations shine in this intimate “Hats Off” tribute to one of the most admired and captivating musical icons of our time.
The show will star the legendary jazz singer Wesla Whitfield, “One of the finest masters of popular singing” according to The Los Angeles Times, and under the direction of famed pianist / arranger Mike Greensill, with an array of other musicians including former Saratoga native, bassist Brian Cassier.
