Jean-Yves Thibaudet, hailed as “one of the best pianists in the world,” and sought- after by today’s top orchestras, festivals, conductors, and collaborative musicians for his innovation and charisma, performs in a program of works by Bernstein, Ravel and Gershwin on Thursday, August 2.
His fresh, textured and riveting performances have led critics such as the New York Times to exclaim that “every note he fashions is a pearl…the joy, brilliance and musicality of his performance could not be missed.” Thibaudet’s musical depth and stage presence have underlined a career that encompasses 30 years of international performing and over 40 recorded albums.
Born in Lyon, France, Jean-Yves Thibaudet has released over 40 albums with Decca, which have earned the numerous awards including a Gramophone Award, two Echo awards, and the Edison Prize. Thibaudet is featured on the score of current major motion picture, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and was also the soloist on the Oscar- and Golden Globe-award winning soundtrack to Universal Pictures’ Atonement and the Oscar-nominated Pride and Prejudice. On June 18, 2010, he was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl of Fame.
Thibaudet’s 2011-2012 schedule includes a European tour with Charles Dutoit and the Philadelphia Orchestra, with much of the season centered around Liszt, Ravel, and Saint-Saëns.
