About the program:
The Classical Kids program, generously sponsored by Union College, was first introduced in 1993 and currently serves approximately 8,000 children in grades four through seven at 35 schools in and around the Capital Region. With a unique curriculum that combines classroom study, interactive in-school performances by professional dancers and musicians, and free attendance at SPAC performances, the program's approach has been widely praised by teachers, students and parents. Students who complete the program receive a special classical season lawn pass that allows the student (and an accompanying adult) free lawn admission to every orchestra and ballet event at SPAC until they graduate from high school.
"I believe in the SPAC Classical Kids Program and encourage it to continue so that our youth can have the opportunity to learn, appreciate, and love the arts." – Participating School Music Teacher
"Thank you so much for your efforts in bringing the Classical Kids Orchestra program to us. The students (and adults) all said it was excellent! We are truly blessed to be able to be part of this fantastic program!" – Participating School Administrator
